Covering Letters
When applying for certain jobs, it is sometimes requested that you forward a covering letter stating why you feel you are suitable for the post advertised. Please don’t use this opportunity to write your autobiography as it will for sure fail to get you to the interview stage.
Covering letters should be no more than 1 page long and clearly highlight your intentions. State the reason you are applying for the post as advertised and highlight very briefly how the skills, experience and qualifications stated in your CV or Application Form match the criteria they have listed either in the advert or in the job description you received.
Finish off your letter by suggesting that they meet with you to discuss in more detail the content of your CV or Application Form and to determine whether or not they find you suitable for the role advertised.
Thank the employer for reading your application and state that you look forward to receiving a response from them.
