Accounting Manager
Donegal Based
Contract Position - 10 Month Duration
€40-€55K
We are working with a local employer who have forged a reputation for professional excellence since opening their facility, they employ over 900 staff are a fortune 500 company committed to delivering results to their customers. They have a reputation founded on customer satisfaction and wish to appoint an Accounting Manager of a contract basis for a 10 month period.
Required Skills/Experience
- Qualified or Part Qualified to ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA with at least5 years experience.
- Good interpersonal skills with experience of working in a diverse environment
- Good analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Computer literate
- Self-starter capable of working on own initiative
Job Responsibilities
- Overseeing payment postings and all daily transactions
- Filing timely regulatory reports
- Closing books for business unit
- Managing the accounting cycle for the business
- Performing general ledger and month-end closing duties
- Conducting financial reporting and analysis including journal entries and account reconciliation
- Making sure that all accounts are properly stated
- Reviewing company performance of actual financial results vs. forecasted financial results
- Providing forecasting and annual budgeting
- Supervising and coordinating all accounting department activities
- Preparing, reconciling and supporting internal and external financial / analysis reporting
- Providing assistance with complex financial projects, and helping to develop strategies, policies and procedures
- Preparing and analyzing financial data and reports to facilitate decision making by Senior Management
- Recommending business and financial solutions to senior management based on findings
- Working with other departments in preparation of analyses
Management Duties -
- Hiring, training and motivating accounting staff
- Monitoring staff performance and taking disciplinary action as needed
- Ensuring that the team meets departmental and corporate goals
- Designs work processes to achieve the greatest degree of efficiencies possible

Financial Controller - €55K+
We are working in conjunction with one of the county’s market leading Hotel Resorts, to assist them in making an addition to their team of experienced professionals in the Donegal area. Due to continued success and ongoing expansion, they wish to appoint a suitably experienced Financial Controller to aid them in their ongoing development.
The ideal candidate will be ACCA or FCCA qualified with a minimum of 5 years experience gained in a similar role. As an integral member of the hotel’s senior management team you will be responsible for contributing to the success of the business in all areas. The ability to analyze metrics and organize work teams as necessary to resolve problems and adjust processes for improved efficiency, customer service and profitability.
Job Knowledge
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy, and providing positive and proactive solutions.
- Knowledge of supervision and management techniques.
- Knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as accounts receivable, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, etc.
- Mastery of computer fundamentals, including hotel industry systems and standard desktop software. Advanced excel skills required.
- Solid mathematical skills and highest degree of integrity.
- Ability to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with fellow employees and guests.
- Knowledge of training and motivation techniques, coach & counseling/discipline methods.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervising the financial department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, auditing, payroll, general accounting and cashiers.
- Preparing timely and accurate reports outlining the hotel’s financial position in areas of income, expense, earning, and cash position based on past, present and future operations.
- Planning and directing the work of the accounting staff.
- Planning and implementing procedures and systems.
- Preparing financial analyses as needed on any specific area requested by management or owners.
- Recognizing trends, evaluating scenarios and bringing recommendations forward to ensure continued financial success of the hotel.
- Preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance policies & contracts necessary for operation.
- Arranging for audits of hotel accounts as required by management agreement.
- Ensuring maintenance of all books an records in compliance with management agreement and all applicable laws.
- Advising management concerning insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Ensuring timely and accurate computation and payment of any taxes due from operations.
- Hiring, training and developing assigned employees.

The Role
To manage all accounts administration within the company. Organise staff wages, holidays etc. Be responsible for dealing with customer queries and being first point of contact within the office.
Initially the position is 1 day per week, this may increase after a period of 6 months.
