Job Description
Financial Controller - €55K+
We are working in conjunction with one of the county’s market leading Hotel Resorts, to assist them in making an addition to their team of experienced professionals in the Donegal area. They are at the forefront of the Hospitality industry and their reputation is renowned for their attention to quality and excellence. Due to continued success and ongoing expansion, they wish to appoint a suitably experienced Financial Controller to aid them in their ongoing development.
The ideal candidate will be ACCA or FCCA qualified with a minimum of 5 years experience gained in a similar role. As an integral member of the hotel’s senior management team you will be responsible for contributing to the success of the business in all areas. The ability to analyze metrics and organize work teams as necessary to resolve problems and adjust processes for improved efficiency, customer service and profitability.
Job Knowledge

- Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy, and providing positive and proactive solutions.
- Knowledge of supervision and management techniques.
- Knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as accounts receivable, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, etc.
- Mastery of computer fundamentals, including hotel industry systems and standard desktop software. Advanced excel skills required.
- Solid mathematical skills and highest degree of integrity.
- Ability to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with fellow employees and guests.
- Knowledge of training and motivation techniques, coach & counseling/discipline methods.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervising the financial department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, auditing, payroll, general accounting and cashiers.
- Preparing timely and accurate reports outlining the hotel’s financial position in areas of income, expense, earning, and cash position based on past, present and future operations.
- Planning and directing the work of the accounting staff.
- Planning and implementing procedures and systems.
- Preparing financial analyses as needed on any specific area requested by management or owners.
- Recognizing trends, evaluating scenarios and bringing recommendations forward to ensure continued financial success of the hotel.
- Preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance policies & contracts necessary for operation.
- Arranging for audits of hotel accounts as required by management agreement.
- Ensuring maintenance of all books an records in compliance with management agreement and all applicable laws.
- Advising management concerning insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Ensuring timely and accurate computation and payment of any taxes due from operations.
- Hiring, training and developing assigned employees.
